Teamwork, Brand, and People Yesterday, during our company strategy session, our Group CEO shared a powerful and inspirational video that left a lasting impression on me. The video depicted a lone lion surrounded by 20 hyenas, seemingly outnumbered and overpowered. Just when it seemed all was lost, a second lion arrived, and together, they managed to chase the 20 hyenas away. Reflecting on this, three critical insights stood out to me: 1. Teamwork is Essential- Just as the two lions succeeded where one couldn't, we too can achieve remarkable results when we collaborate and support each other. 2. Having the Right Brand- The lions' presence and strength were undeniable. Similarly, a strong and authentic brand can distinguish us in a competitive marketplace. 3.The Right People Make the Difference- The arrival of the second lion was a game-changer. In the same way, having the right people in our team can transform challenges into victories. As an HR professional, these lessons resonate deeply. Building a team that embodies these values is crucial for our success. Together, we can overcome any challenge and achieve greatness. #Teamwork #Leadership #HR #Strategy #Inspiration #brand #talentmanagement #culture

A fundamental characteristic of Eastern or Asian gurus and mentors over the ages is the "ගුරු මුස්තිය", literally the "Teacher's Fist". The guru refrains from teaching the disciple the final and most important lesson. By retaining this one skill, and ensuring it is never taught, the guru's longevity and pre-eminence is maintained and the disciple can never surpass the master. Trust Sam Thevanayagam to break out of this paradigm (not the first sacred cow he has shattered, and certainly not the last) once and for all. Parts Life's video library of leadership skills and industry knowledge is a unique and priceless compilation of 30-plus years of hard-won experience and expertise.
How do you practice gratitude in a business setting? In our final installment of #WisdomWednesday, President and CEO Sam Thevanayagam talks about the importance of gratitude and passing on the leadership legacy for generations to come. _______________ The Parts Life, Inc. Family of Companies is committed to the continuous training and development of our workforce. Recognizing the importance of a knowledgeable team, we emphasize enhancing corporate leadership skills, understanding core values, and providing exceptional customer support. Our aim is to not only deliver outstanding products and services but also to strengthen our workforce and the communities we are part of. A primary focus has been significant investment in the development of our expanding workforce through training in both vocational skills and life skills, active involvement in our local community via company and employee support, and volunteering. As part of this initiative, President and CEO Sam Thevanayagam has created a video library of leadership and industry knowledge for the Parts Life Inc. Family of Companies workforce development. Partner@KennedyFitch | Chief People Officer (CHRO) | Purpose-driven and Value-based culture change | Executive Coach | Leadership Development | Agile HR Transformation
Dear community I’d like to share this interview that was published on KennedyFitch.com. It’s about my passion and believe in building purpose-driven organizations. In this, I share the personal story of past experiences and how that influenced my thinking and believes. Hopefully, it also shows why I am keen on helping companies and organisations to become truly purpose led. I post this interview to share my point of view. You might like it or not, you might agree with most or disagree with some aspects. That’s absolutely fine! It is my personal point of view and I certainly don’t claim that it is all right or unbiased. However, I also convinced that it is important to have a point of view and to state it. Only then, honest, candid and constructive debates can evolve around a subject I care about. This in turn will lead to better understanding and additional insights. It is all about learning, unlearning and re-learning, extending what we know and understand. That’s why I welcome your feedback and contributions as it will move us forward. Thanks to KennedyFitch for hosting this interview and for their support. Likewise, thanks to Ranjay Gulati and to Alex Edmans for their books "Deep Purpose" and "Grow the Pie", which both influenced and encouraged my thinking. #purpose #purposedriven #humanizedgrowth #humancentric #futureofwork #leadership #employeeexperience #humancapability #culture #values #branding #chro #chiefpeopleofficer
Adriano Bruno, our new partner at KennedyFitch, shares his insights in this interview, where we ask him 6 key questions about the transformative power of purpose-driven organizations. "Balancing short-term needs with long-term impact, a multi-stakeholder approach fuelled by purpose and values can be a powerful source of energy, inspiration, and innovation within an organization." I serve as a growth advisor for self-made entrepreneurs and nonprofit leaders...you don't have to go it alone.
I ran into Angela Rakis last week at a Symphony 6 event and she was giving me a hard time for all of my “new jobs” last week. We had a good laugh. She was a client of mine at Full Focus (and is doing great work in sales training…) Figured it would be good to clarify…I started Yoked Ventures. That is the business I own and operate under (website launching soon). But what is Yoked? It is where I help shoulder the growth opportunities with business owners and organizational leaders. It is fractional work, focused on clarity of ideal client, clear offer(s), fractional business development and sales functions and coaching. Bottom line, we increase the capacity of owners and leaders to grow their orgs. Been a blast so far. So why all the “new jobs”? Because my boy Jonathan Barnes of Work Heartily, LLC (who I am getting to work with as well) introduced me to the concept of “embedded ownership”. And it RESONATED with my heart. We don’t just touch and move on…we dig in. We actually take ownership! We get email addresses and phone numbers associated with the client. We engage in team meetings…we go all in and stay committed to achieving the dream of the owner. And we drive results! More to come…

How well do you see and celebrate progress and success? The second in my "Year in Review from Our Client's POV" focuses on being a good noticer. Noticing potential. Noticing people. Noticing progress. And taking the time to call it out, celebrate the win, and champion the person or people who have contributed to the performance and made a noticeable difference (see what I did there:)) When we are intentional about naming the progress and championing the people we build into the culture of our team a sense of celebration and success - this generates the environment of directly and indirectly helping US ALL get better. I've said for years "If you see it in them, say it to them" - Your teammates love knowing what they did that made them more effective and the team better. Way better. #differencemakers

Last week's all-hands meeting was a powerful moment for me. A new GM shared a quote by Maya Angelou that instantly transported me back to a significant time in my journey. It was the week in May 2014 when Maya Angelou passed away, which also coincided with my interview for my current role at Prinova. During my interview presentation, I was asked about the legacy I left at my previous employer. Without hesitation, this quote framed my answer. It beautifully encapsulates what I believe should be at the core of every interaction, both personal and professional. It's about the intangible yet profound impact we have through our actions, and most importantly, through the empathy and care we express. To this day, this guides how I engage with every team member at Prinova. It’s not just about the policies we enact or the strategies we implement; it's about ensuring every colleague feels supported, valued, and heard. That’s the legacy I strive to build upon every day – creating an environment where each person can thrive, feel empowered, and remember the positive feelings we create together. Let's continue to make all employees feel valued, today and every day. #Leadership #EmployeeEngagement #MayaAngelou #Legacy #PeopleMatter #HumanResources #PrinovaGlobal #NAGASE
