Let's get matching tattoos! You might know that we’re trialing a swap from stickers to laser tattoos on our XL avocados, but have you seen it in action? This could save nearly 1 million pieces of plastic per year, and we're only just getting started. Learn more here: https://bit.ly/4cDpcFG

What about the elephant in the room... That plastic tray? Talk to me about how that impacts your Scope 3 and I'll show how to improve it..

What makes the most difference here is moving to cardboard trays and not the little sticker that is being replaced by laser-etching the information onto the avocado. I would argue that having the country of origin instead of "Tesco" would provide the consumers with more information about the fruit. Good initiative, if this can be applied to other loose fruit it might have a greater impact. I would like to see some actual numbers on the environmental impact reduction than "1 million stickers per year". Are these 1 million stickers the same as 100 bags of crisps that each have 6 individual smaller packages of crisps inside?

This is excellent. However, bought a pack of your R&R seasonal pears today; encased in plastic then wrapped in plastic! I’d wager sorting this out would save more pieces of plastic.👍

Replacing your plastic bins and liners with our sustainable alternatives could help Tesco avoid discarding hundreds of Tonnes of plastic every year whilst also improving air quality and the health of our nation.

Fantastic idea, plastic is major cause of global warming

Why does the Avocado need to say Tesco on it? And what effect does lasering a tattoo on the food have on the consumer? Why not go back to selling loose fruit that the consumer weighs at the checkout? No sticker needed and no laser tattoo needed either.

Magnificent innovation, I had not heard about it, I would like to know, if it could be sold in a vending market, that is, through vending machines, if it were possible to do it with the rest of the products and fruits?
