What to do if you freeze in an interview

- As someone who used to be very shy and is a non-native English speaker, I'm certainly not a stranger to freezing in job interviews. And these are some of the techniques that I've developed that I always lean on when I get nervous during an interview or get an unexpected question. First, ask for time to think about your answer. No one expects you to have a perfect, polished answer ready for every single interview question. And while silence can feel uncomfortable to you, it's actually quite normal. You can always say, "That's a great question. Let me take a moment and think of a good example." Number two, use the glass of water trick. When you need to buy yourself some additional time to gain your composure or to conceal the fact that you just froze, simply reach for a glass of water and take a few sips.
