- Anyone who's worked on a project has attended a status meeting. For leaders, they're a vital way to keep apprised of how the project is progressing. But if you've attended a status meeting or two or 30, you know that one person's definition of a status update can sound very different from someone else's. I have attended status meetings where the designer just says, oh, everything's great. Leaving everybody else wondering, well, what does that really mean? What's actually happening right now with the design? But then the marketing rep may go on and on at nauseum sharing every minute detail taking us so far in the weeds we don't have clear takeaways. To encourage healthier, more productive status meetings, remember the acronym, BLISS. First, be efficient.
