- Okay. Let's recap this section. You should now be able to describe identity concepts at a basic level. Identity as the primary security perimeter, this concepts refers to the idea that identity is the new perimeter for security. Means that organizations should focus on securing identities and access to resources rather than just securing the network perimeter. Authentication, this is the process of verifying the identity of a user or device and involves providing credentials such as a username and password to prove identity. Authorization, this is the process of granting or denying access to a resource based on the authenticated identity. It involves defining policies and rules that determine what resources a user or device can access. Identity providers, these are services that provide authentication and authorization services to applications and services.
