Azure Firewall is a firewall as a service that you can deploy to a VNet in Azure. You could certainly set up a VM yourself and install some firewall software on it and use that to protect VMs you have deployed. But Azure Firewall is a virtual appliance. It's a managed service. It'll do many of the features of firewalls once you set it up and configure it and you don't have to maintain the VM that runs the firewall. It has threat intelligence that's built in. So it watches for certain kinds of threats. You can either alert or alert and deny. So an alert allows you to be notified as an admin that a threat has occurred. Alert and deny can even stop the traffic. Microsoft uses the intelligence it has about known bad IP addresses and domain names to help protect and it updates those on a regular basis. This firewall as a service also has built in availability and scalability. So it'll automatically scale itself up if you get enough traffic and you need more capacity. In this picture, you…
