Standards organizations

- [Instructor] The process of standardization involves stakeholders agreeing on common norms and regulations for the development of a technical specification. Standards organizations are grouped as national and regional or international. National standards apply only to the country or region in which they are formed. National standards may be government sponsored or independent. International standards are generally applicable everywhere. Some examples of national standard organizations are American National Standards Institution, National Institution of Standards and Technology, and Standards Council of Canada. Examples of international standard organizations include International Organization for Standards, International Electrotechnical Commission, and Institution of Electrical and Electronics Engineering of Standards Association.
