Even if you felt intimidated by some complex syntax, did you think, "I'd like to learn more about how that works," or, "I'd like to see the results of that query," or maybe even, "I can see how this is related to something I'm currently working on or have worked on in the past"? While this course is focused on fitting an existing skillset into a new career, you may want to take a few minutes to think about what really interests you.
