- If you recall, the name of this domain is reporting and communication. We've talked about reporting, but we need to cover how important communication is. It's an area that's often overlooked, but you really can't if you want to do a good job of an overall penetration test. Good communication is critical to the penetration test success. Yeah, you can run all the tests you want, but if you don't communicate well, your project is not going to be as successful as it could be. In most cases, you want your penetration test to be conducted openly. That means that you're communicating with all the team members both inside the test team, and with the client team members because you're going to reach out, and touch a lot of people. However, in some cases, discretion is a stated goal. In some cases, you're retained to come in and covertly penetration test at particular environment.
