Business case for cloud security

- It's important to understand the impact cloud security can have on your organization. In this video, we'll cover the concepts around cloud security you should understand in order to be able to make an effective business case to your leadership. Security is for the protection of outside or inside threats. The threats could be ransomware attacks and data breaches and other events where applications and/or data may be compromised. The business case for cloud security is to keep these events from happening and avoid suffering a negative impact on revenue and investor and consumer confidence. Protecting privacy is also core to the business case for cloud security. Those who leverage clouds, and other systems for that matter, expect their personal data to stay private and protected. An additional requirement of cloud security is to provide security without reducing the efficiency of system performance or functions. So cloud security needs to be implemented without impacting how systems work and perform. Security must also protect against data loss. This includes backing up data, which could be compromised by ransomware attacks, or just restoring data that was accidentally deleted. Data is typically the most valuable asset that a business has. There are laws and regulations that govern the privacy of different types of data, such as medical and financial information. These laws define how data needs to be protected and have stiff penalties for those who fail to protect the data. Security, privacy, efficiency, and data protection are fundamental to cloud security and serve as a foundation for how cloud security is built.
