Add custom fields and modify field properties
- [Instructor] In the previous chapter of this course, we covered creating indexes, table of figures, and bibliographies. While we were setting these up, the document elements were created with the use of fields. In this lesson, we are going to add custom fields to a letter document. We'll start by removing the placeholder text here that says Date. And keep the cursor positioned right here because this is where we want to insert a date field. Next, we're going to go to the Insert ribbon. We're going to go over here to the Text group. And we're going to select explore quick parts. From the dropdown menu, let's go ahead and select Field, and that takes us here. Now, we're going to start in the upper-left corner. I want you to notice that for categories, it's set to All, and that is listing all of the field names. So it's an alphabetized list, A to Z, where you can go through and pick the field that you want to work with.…
