- [Lecturer] Virtualization is an integral part of Amazon EC2. It allows AWS to generate hundreds of virtual servers from a single physical server that can be used by its customers around the world. AWS also manages how a single virtual machine, or an EC2 instance is allocated to a specific customer. There's a lot of information that needs to be allocated to the instance, such as its network information, device mapping, security credentials, and so on and so forth. Just like a manifest of a ship, that contains a consolidated list of all the cargo on board. AWS also has a system in place to add a sort of a manifest to each and every virtual machine. For every Istio instance that's instantiated by their physical server, AWS adds its manifest like metadata that contains all the related technical information about the instance.
