Supervises and coordinates activities of production workers by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Ensure the Safety of all direct reports during the Production shift. This includes regularly evaluating the function of each operation and employee, critiquing for potential safety hazards or concerns. If a hazard is recognized, stop the process immediately, remove the employee(s) from the hazard and inform the Area Supervisor.
Ensures on a daily basis departmental goals/objectives are being met within their shift. These include, but are not limited to, production efficiency, scrap rates, tooling cost, inventory levels and inventory accuracy.
Inspects products to verify conformance to specifications and directs setup and adjustments of machines
Studies production schedules and estimates man hour requirements for completion of job assignment
Administer company policies to employees and enforces safety regulations
Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties
Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules
Coordinates completion of preventive maintenance tasks with Mechanical, Electrical and Production departments
Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew
Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems
Initiates and/or implements as directed, plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals
Maintains time and production records
Estimates, requisitions, and inspects materials
Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments
Occasionally performs activities of workers supervised such as operating machinery, gauging parts and cleaning work area
Assures optimal utilization of staff, capital equipment, and supplies with the area(s) of responsibility and the respective shift(s)
Is responsible for product quality and Quality Systems adherence to published guidelines within their shift
Provides 6S cleaning assignments, assures 6S practices are adhered to in their area of responsibility
Conducts brief informational meetings with direct reports at least every two weeks to communicate Performance to defined targets of OEE, Scrap, order levels and other pertinent information.
Responsible for ensuring that department training requirements are completed timely. Training includes On the Job (OJT), LRC Classwork and compliance training. This includes direct reports as well as their own requirements.
Approves set-up/changeover operations
Utilizes and collects SPC program data within their shift
Recommends process improvements to include cost reductions, throughput improvements and training recommendations
Administers Human Resources policies
Records all pertinent production data and administers inventory movements using SAP production software and spreadsheets
Overtime as needed
Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises up to 35 employees in Ferrotherm/Monotherm Production
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
Required responsibility to assist employees with needs of CPR, AED and First Aid
Qualifications
Technical education or equivalent internal training as required to lead the subordinate department
Knowledge of process-related machining/inspection methods, techniques, and equipment
Knowledge of SPC, employee training, basic labor law, and safety training
