When you join Design Group as an Electrical Engineer, PE, you are joining a team that will challenge you and position you for growth. In this role, you will work with a team of industry experts to help the world’s leading companies solve their most difficult problems. You will join our Architecture/Engineering Process Practice and partner with seasoned leaders, technical specialists, and subject matter experts to deliver the highest quality solutions to our clients with consistency and accuracy.

What You’ll Do

You'll work individually and in teams to support capital projects and implement solutions for our clients. Together, you will help our clients make critical changes to improve their performance and realize their most important goals.

  • Provide sustaining facilities electrical engineering support for our clients’ site electrical distribution systems in the food & beverage, life science, and advanced technology sectors.
  • Review and approve electrical designs for manufacturing power distribution systems.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors on new construction and renovation projects.
  • Review electrical design specifications and drawings.
  • Calculate power distributions for switchboards, panel boards, transformers, wire sizing, voltage drop, conduit fill, cable tray sizing and fill, and AICs.
  • Review cost estimates and budgets.
  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Maintain current NEC code knowledge.
  • Read and interpret design drawings and specifications.
  • Lead project teams.
  • Make an impact day-to-day with your skills and expertise, strengthening that relationship with our clients and team.


What You’ll Bring

  • A minimum of five years of experience in low and medium voltage power, easy power, load flow analysis, and working on electrical engineering drawings, in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working with mechanical, electrical and process (MEP) engineers and technicians.
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary large capital projects involving owners, general contractors, contractors, and system integrators.
  • A solid understanding of design/build (engineering and construction).
  • Familiarity with facilities document control systems.
  • Experience with electrical as-built drawings that are incorporated into master CAD drawings.
  • Experience reviewing and updating electrical system models.
  • Experience with project close out including reviewing construction specifications, as-builts, O&M manuals and submittals.
  • Proficiency with written and verbal technical communication, including generating reports and conducting group presentations.
  • A willingness to travel for project requirements including installation and start-up activities, client and company sponsored meetings, trainings, industry related seminars, forums, and conventions.
  • A bachelor of science in electrical engineering, or a degree emphasizing power distribution, or equivalent work experience in life science or advanced technology manufacturing.
  • A professional engineering (PE) license.
