The Role

As the HearstLab Digital Marketing Associate your primary goal is to grow & amplify the HearstLab brand worldwide. This includes executing content strategy for Social Media (primarily LinkedIn) Newsletter, and Blog as well as marketing for key events alongside our Growth Marketing and Community Managers. Yo*will also working closely with the HearstLab leadership team to support external marketing and thought leadership for Lab.


Your role includes a unique opportunity to build and support relationships across Hearst’s 360 businesses including major media outlets (e.g. Good Housekeeping, Cosmopolitan, A&E, SF Chronicle) to scale visibility for HearstLab and its portfolio companies/founders.


This role will report to the Senior Director of HearstLab.


Responsibilities

  • Build & manage social media content strategy, calendar, and content review process for HearstLab along with HearstLab’s Growth Marketing Manager.
  • Manage & oversee creation of all content for HearstLab’s digital channels, including creating the content yourself and working with creative agencies/vendors as needed. Occasionally contribute to and produce short & long-form and video content.
  • Create and manage social content production for in-person events.
  • Maintain key brand guidelines & creative assets (videos, logo files, etc.) for HearstLab brand.
  • Manage newsletter content, subscriber list, and distribution strategy.
  • Collaborate with Growth Marketing Manager on thought leadership & PR opportunities including drafting press releases and blog posts.
  • Provide ad-hoc graphics & copywriting support to portfolio companies.
  • Ensure brand safety by accepting responsibility for, and ensuring alignment with, global media governance and compliance.
  • Manage day-to-day execution to ensure all assets are on track.
  • Set expectations with internal partners and ensures all assets are prepared for go-live.
  • Lead channel-specific and custom asset development.
  • Oversee localization of assets across markets and language.
  • Monitor & analyze performance of all digital marketing channels (email, social, website). Produce monthly reports and provide optimization strategy recommendations.
  • Define which KPIs should be used to measure the success.
  • Examine performance data and trends to develop insights and make recommendations for optimization.
  • Define and manage execution of test-and-learn experiments.


Qualifications

  • Proven ability to create, manage, and execute cross-channel digital marketing campaigns that drive increased social following, brand engagement, PR placements and/or key partner or press mentions
  • Strong eye for design; able to follow brand guidelines and build graphics using tools like Canva, Adobe Illustrator
  • Strong project management skills and strengths in managing multiple projects/deadlines; ability to set priorities and be flexible in changing environments (comfortable with ambiguity!)
  • Excellent communicator: ability to translate concepts and ideas to multiple audience levels and at various altitude.
  • Must be able to deliver results with little supervision, self-serve around solutions and troubleshooting.


Additional Or Preferred Qualifications

  • 3 years experience working in a fast-paced/startup environment, a large multinational organization and/or creative/media agency
  • Formal experience as a graphic designer
  • Experience with Newsletter management tools like Beehiiv
  • Experience in SEO-optimized content writing
  • Creating and editing video and audio content using tools like Adobe Premiere & LucidLink is a plus

In accordance with applicable law, Hearst is required to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role if hired in New York City. The reasonable estimate, if hired in New York City, is $50-75/hour. Please note this information is specific to those hired in New York City. If this role is open to candidates outside of New York City, the salary range would be aligned to that specific location. A final decision on the successful candidate’s starting salary will be based on a number of permissible, non-discriminatory factors, including but not limited to skills and experience, training, certifications, and education.
