“I had the good fortune of working with Carol for seven years. As part of my Candidate Marketing & Experience organization, Carol led our digital marketing and operations team which was largely responsible for candidate acquisition and retention across over 100 digital marketing channels and 6 business units for the largest healthcare staffing company in the U.S. She led many key initiatives during her tenure including a large digital transformation effort, the launch of a successful chatbot, multiple business integrations with newly acquired companies, brand consolidations and repositioning, and a heroic effort to acquire an unprecedented number of healthcare professionals to staff a massive surge in demand related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Beyond this small sample of Carol’s accomplishments, she also was the recipient of the 2018 Conference Board Excellence in Communication Award for her pioneering work to integrate personas into candidate communication efforts across channels. To highlight only Carol’s accomplishments would miss the reason why Carol is such an amazing talent. It’s not only what she does, but how she does it. Carol was respected and admired as a leader within my organization and across AMN Healthcare. She worked relentlessly to meet commitments regardless of the countless barriers she encountered. And, she did it with grace. Workloads on the team were always high, but Carol knew how to prioritize and always produce the highest quality deliverables. She worked hard to understand emerging technologies and approaches and was viewed as a domain expert across many disciplines. She used this knowledge to drive innovation and keep AMN several steps ahead of the competition in the “war for talent.” I always learned from her and I’m so grateful that I had the opportunity to work with her for many years. Hopefully, we will get the chance to do so again. ”

This is a critical step. No matter the upfront research, persona development, and content expertise, we can't forget that we're not the audience. Only they will determine if there's value in the message and approach. Implicit and/or explicit data helps us continue to understand what resonates with audience(s).

How can you write impactful and concise ad copy?
Don't forget to test your CTAs. I recall one test in which "submit," turned off potential customers by triggering a negative feeling of surrender or concession. Testing alternate phrases improved conversions and helped us believe in 'always-on' test and learn.
