I think everyone will say "understand them". That's about as generic an answer as I could think of too. Emotions. It is the canary in the coal mine. If you can emotionally understand where they are coming from, you have the ability to see from their perspective and potentially show them how you have alignment in outcome. That realignment is the key to trust. That trust is how you win them over.

Sports teams practice continually so that they may become better. The day of the sporting event, is not time for practice. If you do not give team members the ability to practice, when will they ever be ready for the "game"? Choosing delegates is not about skills and experience, it is about opportunity and learning. If you are worried that a task will not get done properly, then why are you delegating? If you are interested in building a team and team members that will function and grow in performance, you must give them a chance to step up and practice. Trust begins with you giving them something that can't or haven't done before.

I can see why people might struggle with this question. They are starting with the assumption that they know the answer. If you have a team, are you the expert? If "Yes" you are and always will be the expert on the team. However, if you have a team, ask them what needs to be done. What do you have them for after all? Ask them. Suggest you need help in achieving that "outcome" and ask for their ability to achieve the task(s) and their confidence of completion. To make sure you do not get left uninformed, ask when you can get partial or milestone updates. If you start the exercise of assigning tasks by assuming you know everything already, that might be why delegation is the problem: You are assuming you have to do it.

Expertise rides in a vehicle called trust. Content is a method for building expertise and trust, most often digitally. So how do you build trust? Consider a good friend? Did they become a good friend because of one singular event? Did you pay for their meal one time? No. Trust is built by three things: -Positive Experience -Consistency of Presence -Expertise Let's delve deeper: Positive Experience: They enjoyed the experience. Consistency of Presence: Have you spent lots of time with your good friend? Of course you have! Expertise: You simplify complex things into digestible pieces. If you can do this in content, your prospective clients will flock to you like moths to a flame. Leverage content not as a two-way conversation.

You may have read my comment on question #1. If you have not understood what methods of travel or resources are available to you, how can you travel to a destination like Disney World? Will you go by Car? Plane? Boat? Bicycle? In order to reach a destination, what a new client represents, you must clearly understand what resources you have. If you are visionary in nature, like me, then understanding very complex concepts and integrating them quickly into future behaviors is easy...but creating the process and structure for delivery is where I need support. Understand what you represent and share that with others so that they can have the "ah ha!" moment. Sharing what you are, candidly and transparently, is your personal brand.

Here is a visual of what this means. Wherever you are in the world, imagine heading to Disney World in Florida (United States). Imagine what you would need to do to travel there? Would you take family? Freinds? Sun Screen lotion? Do you buy a new camera or mobile phone (or even a new storage card) to take lots of photos? Where will you stay? The endpoint, the destination cannot be reached unless you define it first. What if I now told you to just go somewhere? What and who will you take? It is ambiguous without a destination. Define an ICP (Ideal Customer Profile) that is so laser-targeted that you know exactly what you need in order to arrive at a destination. Pick your niche...or you will travel around aimlessly for a long time.
