SATURDAY MORNING REFLECTIONS Another productive week in the books! The highlight of the week was CareerSource Tampa Bay's Professional Networking Group, which featured Stephanie Markese from NextPath Career Partners. Exceptional speaker. Awesome work putting this event together Jemelle Wilds! At that event, in a room full of job seekers, (where I love to be) the focus was on résumés. There was a lot of discussion on how people were applying for jobs, but no one was getting a call back from employers. The job seekers felt their résumé was not "getting it done," so to speak. But what is a résumé really? "A summary of your skills and experience" a job seeker said when asked to define this feisty document. But... A résumé is not just a summary of skills... it much more than that. A résumé is a response to a job description. With 15 years of experience in the talent industry, I have learned that résumés must be tailored to each role. The hiring manager must know the applicant is qualified for an interview simply by reading your résumé. Why do I keep bringing this topic up? Because it's still a challenge for job seekers. And it's preventing them from getting hired. Before submitting, please ensure your résumé addresses the job requirements. Take the time. It's worth it!
