Is there a "season" for succession planning? Many organizations believe that talent planning can be done once a year, perhaps for a month or so. That's a talent (performance) review mindset. 🤔 Pondering (my new favorite pasttime) the words of Marcus Aurelius: "A better wrestler [insert your job title, sport, hobby]. But not a better citizen, a better person, a better resource in tight spaces, a better forgiver of faults." Being good at something doesn't, necessarily, mean you are doing good. But, what happens when we reverse the order of action? "Do Better, Be Better", an inspirational mantra of my friend and colleague Shelley Larrick, is a constant reminder for me. As professionals, we often focus on excelling in our jobs, sports or hobbies, but what about being a better person? It's important to challenge ourselves to do the right thing AND be forgiving of faults. I think we can all do better, I know i can.
