For brands selling digital media like audio or video, it would be helpful if Shopify had a time metafield type so we can enter values like 11:22 for 11 minutes and 22 seconds. It’s a hassle to have to convert minutes or seconds into decimals and then to have to come up with the liquid to convert it back.

Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less isn’t just a great book—it’s how I run branding and web design at Prismal: less clutter, more impact. Do less, but better is the entire point of the book, but also for great design. The best brands don’t try to be everything to everyone—they get laser-focused on what matters and execute it flawlessly. Overcomplicating just dilutes the message. Here’s how Essentialism ties directly into my work: 1. Prioritize ruthlessly: I zero in on what’s essential to your brand’s story and drop the rest. Clean, impactful, and memorable. 2. Say no more often: Not every feature or idea adds value. A stripped-back, intentional design is always stronger than a cluttered one. I say no to unnecessary add-ons so the core message shines (and yes, this includes no longer being a ‘yes’ man with clients). 3. Less but better: Quality over quantity, every time. Bold, minimal design that grabs attention and sets you apart from the pack. 4. Protect the asset (you): Creativity thrives when you protect your energy. I avoid busywork and distractions—splitting my days into focus blocks with a Pomodoro, headphones on, and locked in. 5. Create space to think: The best designs come from breathing room to let ideas develop. Sometimes that means a spontaneous trip to Iceland to clear my head. Prismal isn’t for everyone—and that’s fine. Defining digital type sizes in your style guide prior to doing any design work is pointless. Until you test it out in real application you can't make these decisions, and you certainly can't dictate those rules to others. If your brand partner is setting these rules in isolation - it's a clear indication that digital hasn't been considered in your branding. I've been exploring various nonprofit donation pages...and as a former product/UI/UX designer 💁🏽‍♀️, I've observed some unique layouts and strategies worth talkin' about. Here are a few thangs I noticed: Common sections on most donation pages: ▪️ Short snippet about who you are ▪️ Ways to support ▪️ Impact numbers ▪️ Badges/Awards ▪️ Current Programs/Initiatives Here are some standout features I noticed: 📌 Short videos directly on the page that reinforce impact 📌 Email signup option for hesitant donors 📌 A small donation popup that stays in the bottom right corner of all pages Interesting approaches: ▪️ Addressing donor hesitations upfront about why they might not give (I like how this one centers the person reading and offers reassurance) ▪️ Linking a donation button DIRECTLY to a popup form, no donation page (Nice and simple, but it might make info-seekers dig around for details) ▪️ Link to book a call before donating (I wonder what questions people have and how these can be addressed on the page instead of individually) Some tips and considerations: ▪️ Use heat map tools to track and improve supporter behavior on your page. ▪️ Avoid copying other nonprofits' layouts – your needs audience likely differ. ▪️ Address your specific donors' giving roadblocks. ▪️ Review your form needs: full page vs. popup, long-form vs. streamlined.
