In my experience we do need SMART goals to be successful but even in my line of work always being driven by KPI and data can drive and good sales person nuts! If the results are there then the data can be used to help improve but not drive or pile on results. If you keep hammering someone on performance if they are doing good they will stop performing. I think there is a time and place for data. If you are doing well data is not needed. If it’s not broke you do not need to change the formula or fix it. If they are not performing then it might be a way to help to see how you can get them on the right track. Again this can be a slippery slope from a carrot to a stick. Everyone performs better when they are not being measured daily.

In my experience networking and speaking with industry professionals that are willing to do mock interviews and talk about hiring trends and what going on currently. Most professionals will also review your resume to make sure skills are up to date and relevant based on current data. You just need to find a good consultative recruiter rather then a salesly recruiter. They are out there. I have been doing this for over 11 years and being consultative has help both client and candidates find the right fit and has helped me tell people when they should not take a role or they should even stay in their current company. I agree, in my experience when one side wants a deal another perspective is whoever speaks first loses so yes negotiations are required but start high and negotiate in the middle. A good agreement is when neither side is happy but can agree. That’s a win win for both parties.

Here is something I wanted to share about posting and wages: Looking into the office and clerical staffing sector, we see that active postings are down substantially from March of 2022, currently sitting at about 570,000 active postings, which is not far off from pre-pandemic and historical levels.
