While we say, cybersecurity is a “business risk”, how many organizations today include CISO’s or Cybersecurity managers /teams as part of their key leadership and /or business meetings? - If CISO’s aren’t there as part of C-suite meetings where business initiatives are discussed – how can cybersecurity goals be well aligned to business goals? - Not many CISO’s are part of Board meetings. In CISO’s absence, the elaborative discussions on current security posture and potential threats cannot take place. Can someone else cover that in detail? - It’s also important to attend IT /Risk / Application steering committee meetings to know IT projects , timelines and integration of security aspects into these initiatives. - Crisis mgmt. and incident mgmt. are again two key areas. When things go wrong – CISO teams are on the ground driving the recovery plans. - Like any other area, attrition is a key challenge for cybersecurity leaders. You can’t build a strong security team, unless you invest in growth of individuals.
