In early June 2024, I had the pleasure of participating in a fireside chat with Amy Rotman during the 121 Mining and Investor Summit. We talked about Nucleation Capital and our thesis revolving around the importance of nuclear energy as a tool in the energy transition. I described some of the new technologies being developed or refined to make nuclear systems that are able to serve the needs of a much larger customer base than the one served by monopoly electric utility companies that wanted huge central station power plants. Industrial heat and electricity production on a smaller scale are driving forces leading developers to configurations that allow higher operating temperatures at lower pressures. We also talked about the business model innovations being pursued, including the idea of companies that build, own and operate fleets of nuclear reactors while selling heat and power under long term power purchase agreements. https://lnkd.in/ecg-grGx

Toby Z. Rice, EQT Corporation and the Rice family are bona fide American heroes. The facts are simple: The vast majority of the world still depends on oil and coal. LNG is simply the largest, most actionable, and most economic tool for decarbonization humanity has ready at their disposal today. Period. Let us unleash it. Halting LNG is simply unpatriotic. Worried about the plight of developing nations? Trust me as someone whose family originated from Bangladesh, one of the poorest nations historically speaking, more lives and economies are at risk when nations are energy insecure. Hard to live, cook, have air conditioning, run businesses, run factories and enable a national workforce to thrive when you don’t have energy, and power goes out multiple times a day.. And when LNG is unleashed, America becomes more secure thanks to the stronger relations it creates with other nations. #Ørsted Energy developer Ørsted announced that it has received a $680 million investment in tax equity financing from J.P. Morgan, aimed at funding the construction of new solar and storage projects in Texas and Arizona. According to Ørsted, the investment marks one of the largest solar and storage tax equity transactions using a combined production tax credit (PTC) and investment tax credit (ITC) structure since the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). Signed into law by President Biden in 2022, the IRA allocated nearly $370 billion through a series of tax credits, loans, grants and subsidies to areas including renewable energy and industrial decarbonization solutions, and for the first time made these tax credits transferable, creating a new mechanism for funding energy transition projects. https://lnkd.in/dc6j5SEe
