I reference Pacvue's quarterly report for benchmarks and trends pretty frequently, which is why I'm more than a little excited to be included in this quarter's release. Things that caught my eye: -The CPC inflation on Amazon is real, 6.8% increase YoY for Sponsored Products -Walmart's CPC went up by a double digit % but their base is so low that a jump still puts them well below Amazon, something to watch -Instacart is riding steady in costs which is helped by a lower amount of competition in daily spending YoY, (odd considering Easter demand was closer to Q1 last year but it might be a function of more diverse ad offering YoY taking dollars from sponsored products)

But here's the thing – most brands are only scratching the surface. While many are using clean rooms for audience insights, only a third are leveraging advanced measurement like attribution and ROAS. And broader collaboration across partners and complementary brands offers even greater potential. Modern clean rooms are now fully interoperable, breaking down silos between brands, retailers, and media partners. Lots of action in CPG world right now. Many brands are experiencing volume declines as consumers respond to inflation. Private label competition is up. A lot. Smaller, digitally native DTC brands are chipping away at the share of legacy brands. And there's tremendous pressure to improve outcomes with smarter advertising and promotional strategies. Here's one: Don't forget about the stores. Most of them are now digitally enabled and you can access these massive audiences at scale as easily as any other digital channel - just without the fear of wasting impressions on shady MFA sites or other places where the audiences are less engaged in commerce activity at best, and not even human at worst 🤖 Take a look at the media plan. Anything looking stale? Could it make sense to reallocate some portion of that budget to get closer to people as they shop in the physical stores where 85% of your sales occur? Yes - Reach them while they watch TV on the couch. Yes - Reach them while they are scrolling social. Yes - Speak to them while they are walking the dog and listening to a podcast. Yes - Put your brand in front of them with sponsored product listings. But why go silent on them once they arrive at the actual store? Remind them. Get that additional imprint on their memory at the final moment of truth. It's getting complicated out there. What really excites me about this campaign is that it validates what we, as consumers, intuitively feel about advertising. Whether we’re alone scrolling late at night or curled up on the couch with family ready to binge our favorite show, mindset matters. Signal loss is real, but the one signal that won’t deprecate is our love of stories. If you know what interests your customers, then reach then when they are watching the shows and movies they love. As a viewer, I’m excited that advertising is going to be a whole lot better.
