We’ve made great strides toward those goals, including the installation of a state-of-the-art fuel cell at the Depot Campus in 2022 and the addition of eight more fuel cells that will soon come online at UConn Storrs. Clean energy research is a pillar of our academic mission at UConn, and clean energy living is our responsibility to the next generation.

🏦 💸 Governor Hochul announced $10 million is now available for large-scale thermal projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions from heating, cooling, and hot water in buildings through NYSERDA's new Large-Scale Thermal Program. Register for an Informational Webinar on July 11 at 3:00pm ET: https://on.ny.gov/3xTi3lm NYSERDA will competitively award funding to colleges and universities, multi-family complexes, medical campuses, and communities for projects that use heat pumps and low carbon thermal resources such as geothermal, wastewater, waste heat, surface water, and thermal energy storage. City Announces Applications Open for ApprenticeNYC: Advanced Manufacturing and HVAC Pre-Apprenticeship Programs NEW YORK, NY — NYC Department of Small Business Services has officially opened applications for the ApprenticeNYC: Advanced Manufacturing program and the newly launched Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Pre-Apprenticeship program. These initiatives are designed to equip low-income New Yorkers with the skills needed to thrive in high-demand industrial and construction careers and align with the Adams administration's commitment to create 30,000 new apprenticeships by 2030, fostering a more equitable and inclusive workforce. These programs also reflect the city's commitment to train and position New Yorkers to benefit from hundreds of thousands of good "green-collar" jobs that don't require a college degree, as laid out in the Green Economy Action Plan. The career pathways for both of these trainings pay annual wages of nearly $80,000 or more, providing inclusive pathways to the middle class. "The Advanced Manufacturing and HVAC Pre-Apprenticeship training programs are accessible pathways for New Yorkers to enter high-growth industries where they can make a strong contribution and advance professionally and economically," said SBS Acting Commissioner Dynishal Gross. "These on-ramps are essential to creating equity of opportunity for New Yorkers and supporting the success of local businesses that are part of the growth of the green economy."
