Slowly the FMCSA is actually starting to hold these fraudsters accountable. One of the main talking points on curtailing the fraud is the FMCSA doing it's job & following through on compliance audits to ensure this type of instance doesn't happen so it's nice to see once when the system worked. https://lnkd.in/geZ4EWCN

As a dispatcher or broker who deals with truckers directly through your daily interactions, here are some improvement methods or tips to consider >>>>> •Put yourself in the driver's shoes •Build rapport and relationships to better understand each other. •Balance between optimum miles for drivers for good earning, company profitability and time home for drivers (more so for dispatchers to consider) •Effective planning is the key (Broker should collaborate with dispatch to meet timelines) •Plan backhauls in advance to ensure driver is not stuck at a place for long (This has to be done in an proper manner, booking too early can be detrimental just as waiting too long can be as well) *Please note, backhaul should not be confused or used interchangeably with "cheap freight" * •You should be aware which drivers are trained and certified to carry HAZMAT loads (Brokers responsibility to properly vet the carrier and make sure the dispatcher understand HAZMAT by asking the right questions) •Dispatcher should be aware of HOS availability for drivers before booking loads (this is very important so you do not run into issues for pick up and/or timely delivery) •Understand physical and language limitations •Controlling Driver turnover (A good dispatcher can make or break a trucking company, if a dispatcher does his or her job properly, driver turnover will improve. •Be aware of the contract and company policies with Owner Operators #Trucking #freight #logistics

We all know that recruiting quality truck drivers can be costly So, if your company is always looking for good quality truck drivers, it's important to have a positive workplace environment for the quality of truck drivers you want   If not, you'll be hiring for a long time because drivers keep coming in and leaving after a few weeks or a couple of months. Look for a provider whose drivers have clean driving histories and valid credentials. On-Time Delivery History: Check the provider’s track record for on-time deliveries. Consistent performance is a good indicator of reliability. Capacity and Coverage: Make sure the provider has the capacity to handle your volume of shipments and covers the necessary geographic areas. Responsiveness and Communication: Evaluate how responsive the provider is to your inquiries and their ability to communicate effectively. This includes providing timely updates on shipment status. Technology and Data Availability: Look for providers that use advanced technology for tracking and tracing shipments. They should be able to provide data and proof of delivery promptly. Billing Accuracy: Ensure the provider offers accurate billing and notifies you of any exceptions or additional charges immediately. https://lnkd.in/gcKB5tNC While looking for a job in between my layoff and current position, I interviewed A LOT. I've not landed every position applied to but I definitely have not accepted all offered. The biggest piece of feedback I received was that I was too hard on Safety Standards. Though in every interview, I was told they love to hear that. I've never said I'd fire a driver for an initial safety violation, there's a conversation to be had, training and development if needed, a plan for improvement and discipline as needed. However, if you SAY you are excited about a safety conscious manager but you are too afraid you'll lose your "best drivers" - you need to take a moment of self reflection and think about your mom, your children, your significant others, your best friends, and their families sharing the road with someone who repeatedly accepts texts, does not wear a seatbelt, consistently alerts on speed violations, or will not complete a DVIR - all while driving a truck with YOUR name on it. Having a conversation with a driver about their habits and outlining the hazards of each - is conversation that absolutely should be had. It should be understood such a conversation does not go against the company "culture". Culture of not employing safe drivers? I have found this is more prelevant in transportation companies without forward facing cameras. Especially if say in the case of Lytx, you are only provided with the footage of actual safety violations and you find it is hours and hours. This should be a terrifying revelation. You want someone who will hold people accountable but not too accountable. As a driver manager or fleet manager - not addressing open DVIRs, running trucks into the ground, putting stress on operable fleet equipment because you need a truck NOW, costing literally millions in asset cost and/or loss, rental fees, and driver satisfaction - you may be the bigger problem. After all, why should the driver bother when he knows his cracked windshield has only gotten worse since he first reported it 17 months ago. I don't think the bottom line should come at the cost of driver and road safety. I know this isn't popular opinion, but I will not bend on this.
