David Phillips

I serve as a member of the Board of Directors of this organization which leverages STEM programs to help youth learn life and workplace skills in teamwork, technology, business, and communication.

I serve as a speaker coach for educators selected to present at the annual Teacher Talks event. My role is to help them craft their message and provide tips for speaking to a large audience.

As Chairman, I worked with fellow Committee members, City staff, and the City Council's Economic Development Committee to leverage the BAC as both a sounding board and bi-directional communications channel in service of supporting the growth of Charlotte's small and mid-size companies.

Served as co-chair of event held in 2012 and 2013 that highlighted innovative partnerships that are strengthening our community and enriching the lives of students in the Charlotte area.

The overarching goal of this effort is to bring community organizations and resources into alignment so that their coordinated support of Charlotte’s youth has a positive impact on public school success, children’s health and the success of our community as a whole.

We embrace a “cradle to career” focus to find ways to act together and align interests so more children reach their human potential and to allow communities, neighborhoods, and businesses to reach their potential, as well.

Served as a community member on two of the 22 CMS Task Forces initiated by the Superintendent. Contributed to the discussions, debates, and recommendations for College and Career Readiness and for Time, Capital, and Resource Management.

IT-oLogy is a non profit collaboration of businesses, academic institutions, and organizations dedicated to growing the IT talent pipeline, fostering economic development and advancing the IT profession.
