Omni Federal is pleased to announce a recent award to lead the development of SOCOM’s Enterprise Training Marketplace within Digital University. SOCOM recognized a need for a comprehensive, secure, and user-friendly marketplace where SOCOM units can easily explore, select, purchase, and manage approved training from reputable vendors. Speed, convenience, and flexibility are the three core principles of this simplified procurement process. SOCOM requires an Amazon-like platform with automated procurement features that can be easily changed and adapted to meet evolving mission requirements. This single mission-enabled platform will allow users to acquire the necessary training needs of Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC), Theater Special Operations Commands (TSOCs), Special Missions Units (SMUs), and SOCOM service components. We leveraged a deep understanding of SOCOM’s distinct enterprise training requirements to conceptualize a unique SOCOM Training Marketplace design within Digital University. Our initial focus is to create a streamlined user interface and enhance the user experience for effortless navigation through the extensive pool of 100 SOCOM-specific vendors. To capture SOCOM stakeholder needs, Omni is applying our commercially proven Human-Centered Design process adapted to meet the mission and security needs of DoD agencies. Our scope of work includes integrating an easy-to-use and streamlined procurement process, initially developed, and validated by the Digital University Program Team to expedite the acquisition of training resources. The specific and unique SOCOM Training Marketplace procurement process seamlessly aligns with the well-defined and strategically crafted set of Digital University acquisition stages, enabling integration of the two to meet specific training requirements established by the SOCOM enterprise. I’m curious to hear thoughts on how creating another office in OSD solves the problem. My time in OSD was before the breakup of AT&L, where this mechanism did exist. So why not consider merging A&S and R&E back into one office? New offices (especially at this level) always lead to higher administrative costs and increased bureaucracy, ultimately resulting in less funding/capability for the warfighter.

Right on Shawn Barnes! With regard to DoD, USSF, and IC aspirations related to commercial space, actions > (voluminous) words. Vision without resources and implementation is hallucination. Investors will run out of patience, companies will disappear, talent will dissipate, and innovative technologies will whither and die - along with our marginal advantage over our adversaries. “Ruthlessly implement” indeed!

Experimentation that leads to scalable, integrated, rapidly fieldable capability is the goal of the Navy's Integrated Warfare Systems Rapid Capability Office (IWS RCO). Congratulations to Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division (NSWCCD) inventor David Haas who was granted U.S. Patent No. 12,091,166 B1on Sept. 17 titled “Offset Propeller Controlled Rotor”.   This invention describes a different and novel way to drive cyclic-pitch propellers, like on a helicopter or other rotorcraft. Normally, a helicopter is driven by a central shaft with a complicated mechanical dashplate system. An alternative is some sort of jet on the tip of the blade, thus eliminating the need for complex machinery in the shaft. This invention from David Haas has a small propeller along the blade to provide thrust and cyclic pitch.   There can be more small offset propellers along the top and/or bottom of the blade to achieve the desired pitch and propulsion. This configuration is practical due to the development of efficient electrical power systems to drive the system. Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division (NSWCCD) has a long history on propulsion for rotorcraft related to ship operations and extends to unmanned air vehicles in support of our mission.  #patents #innovation #unmanned #uav

Space operations continue to grow in complexity

Oren is absolutely correct. The question of deterring multiple nuclear armed adversaries is one that the Pentagon is currently trying to figure out. We have China drastically increasing their nuclear missile stockpile and building hundreds of modern missile silos, the Russians are openly threatening NATO with tactical nuclear weapons, and rogue nations like North Korea and Iran either currently possess these weapons or could possess them very quickly. We must equip our forces and those of our Allies and partners to survive and prevail on a nuclear battlefield.
