I started building websites in 1993 when most didn't care much about this new technology called the World Wide Web; I taught myself how to code in a text editor. I see the same progression in AI-generated materials. This is why it is SO essential to incorporate AI teaching/learning into your curriculum, beginning with your course syllabus to explain your expectations, ethics, and how you plan to use (or teach) about ethical ways to use AI that will benefit students in their career. I would like to see as much training as possible in all areas, including training for current faculty and staff as well as student learning. I just completed several courses from the Adobe Education Institute as well as being part of a year-long, multi-college committee discussing Writing Across the Curriculum using AI-generating tools. Perhaps you would like to be a leader in Institutional Effectiveness? UC San Diego has just launched an Institutional Effectiveness Management and Leadership Certificate program. Thanks for sharing, Aeron! --- Over the last two years University of California San Diego (UCSD) instructors have been developing a new program for individuals interested in the field of institutional effectiveness management and leadership. Following the formal curriculum review and approval process, I am happy to announce that the first program cohort for the Institutional Effectiveness Management and Leadership Certificate Program will be starting in Summer 2024. The 18-credit program consists of three, 10-week online courses (one per quarter). The courses will be instructor facilitated and include live online sessions (attendance will be flexible and all lectures recorded). The program was developed with the intent for building community across higher education professionals and supporting upward occupational mobility for individuals in institutional research and planning, information technology, faculty, instruction, student services, and graduate students.
