Spotlight on Women's Workplace Inequality: Let's Talk Statistics! ✨📊   Did you know that despite advancements in gender equality, women still face significant challenges in the workplace? The statistics on women's inequality are eye-opening and demand our attention. Here are a few key figures to consider: 1️⃣ 1 in 3 women still face gender-based discrimination at work. 2️⃣ On average, women earn 82 cents for every dollar earned by men. 3️⃣ Women hold only 25% of senior management roles globally.   These numbers highlight the persistent barriers that women encounter in their professional lives, underscoring the urgent need for change. As we strive for a more inclusive and equitable workplace, it is crucial to address these disparities head-on and to celebrate and elevate women's achievements.   Let's use these statistics as a call to action to advocate for equal opportunities, fair treatment, and representation for women in all industries. “You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated.”― Maya Angelou Thank you to the City of Chicago Department of Procurement Services for the honor of delivering the keynote address at the 2024 Procurement Symposium. I spoke about how construction businesses can move to the next level by participating in large, impactful public infrastructure projects. Setting out to win a government contract represents a daunting, complex challenge for many entrepreneurs. Yet, the work is incredibly rewarding, offering an opportunity to not just build your business, but also your community (often, literally). My key messages: ✔ Don't give up. You may falter. You may stumble. You may fall. Those who succeed are the ones who learn from each setback and try again. ✔ Often it's the people you meet and the books you read that will have the biggest influence on your journey. Choose both wisely. ✔ Building a successful career and making important connections is not about what you can get. It's about what you can give. Knowledge. Talent. Time.
