“I would like to express my gratitude to you regarding Melodie Nye. Melodie served as EH&S Specialist and subsequently EH&S Manager over the 3 years that I was employed with Mile High Labs. In this time I had the pleasure of working as both a colleague and a direct manager where I was responsible for both Engineering and our Technical Operations team. Over the course of the three years our operations included chemical processing and storage, solvent waste management, new systems design and implementation, finished goods manufacturing, and laboratory work. All of this was done with regards to strip GMP standards including compliance with CFR 111 and 117 where we created wholesale consumer goods for cannabinoid market. Mile High Labs provided an atypically large breath of risks associated with our processes given we had three manufacturing sites. The first manufactured botanical hemp-based extracts using IPA and similar solvents. The second site refined those extracts into cannabinoid rich distillates and isolates using solvents like Pentane, Heptane, and Hexane; all manufacturing where solvent processing was performed was Class 1 Div 2 rated spaces. Our final and third site manufactured finished goods such as tablets, capsules, topicals and other ingestible. This location posed a unique risk as were compound additional dietary ingredients such as melatonin and caffeine into our products. With her experience in safety consulting, Melodie understood the various risks posed by our process. Whether it needed to abide by fire code, hazardous waste removal requirements (both state and federal), and process safety management requirements Melodie always successfully kept us in compliance. In our time together I cannot recall a single process related OSHA recordable that occurred under Melodie’s watch. I have worked at several facilities that have stellar safety records and fantastic safety programs. None of them had EH&S personnel that were as engaged, positive, and accountable as Melodie has been. In addition, Melodie has always made it a point to stay up to date with available trainings and constantly strives for personal and professional growth in her career. Melodie has been an absolute joy to work with and a comfort knowing any safety concerns I had would be appropriate supported and addressed. I hope to cross paths with her again soon and can only express my deepest thanks for everything she has done in support of my work at Mile High Labs.”
