We come from a long line of radio amateurs (commonly known as `Hams`) who since the advent of radio communications have been there in times of need. Art Goodall W0KG and the late Dave Collins, KC6YNC (SK), came together in 2007 as a vehicle to support the emergency support system centered primarily on the 11 county area around the City of St. Louis. The area has a integral relationship with rivers that flood regularly and weather extremes. Goodall, a retired Army Colonel, saw the need to give local governments and served agencies additional portable communications to be used in both emergencies and to support community events. That group became known as Missouri District C Rapid Response Team (RRT) and ARRL ARES affiliated organization.

Patient Safety: An Emphasis on Prevention & Control of Infection Control Conference Webinar

Abstract: Clinicians commonly accept as truth that diabetic patients experience infections with greater frequency than their non-diabetic peers and the course of the disease is more complicated. Many health insurance companies in the USA acknowledge uncontrolled diabetes mellitus (HbA1c>10.0) as a justification for inpatient admission for treatment of infections that would be recommended for ambulatory management in well-controlled or non- diabetic patients In our presentation, we explore…

Many health insurance companies in the USA acknowledge uncontrolled diabetes mellitus (HbA1c>10.0) as a justification for inpatient admission for treatment of infections that would be recommended for ambulatory management in well-controlled or non- diabetic patients In our presentation, we explore the role of uncontrolled diabetes mellitus (HbA1c>10.0) on resource utilization and cost of care for diabetic patients with a diagnosis of sepsis. This may help Ministries of Health, health insurance executives, healthcare administrators, and clinical leaders in their efforts to train clinical colleagues and to educate patients.
