    Physical activity in cancer survivors has been shown to reduce fatigue and depression while improving quality of life.     Organized and planned the one year anniversary event for the Seton Breast Care Center.     After 1st October successful events (2014), I received a special invite to submit for funding for special projects. I wrote a grant requesting funds from the Plastic Surgery Foundation, receiving $7.5K Breast Reconstruction Awareness Grant for the breast center (2015).

  • Breast Reconstruction Awareness Panel

    -

    Developed a Panel of 2 Breast Surgeons, Psychiatrist, and Nurse Navigator to discuss "Successfully Navigating through the Breast Reconstruction Process." Selected venue, submitted applications to the CME and CNE committee, and marketing to the appropriate sources. Also submitted grant to the Plastic Surgery Foundation, receiving $7.5K Breast Reconstruction Awareness Grant for the breast center and supporting this event.

    Partnered and collaborated with 20 community organizations, 6 large corporate organizations, doctors, key donors, and community leaders to develop community programming and outreach, increasing breast cancer awareness, supporting cancer patients, and providing education on wellness and prevention, resulting in reaching the Central Texas population.

    Spearheaded Medication Management program for elderly by partnering with senior centers to hold presentations throughout Central Texas by developing outreach database, and managing projects, presentations, budgets, and reports, reaching over 471 participants within a 4-month period, and within budget of $55K.

  • Inspired! United in Spirit, Focused and Fit: Wellness for Women

    Developed and organized the first Inspired! Event with multiple partners and community organizations. Event included topics: My First Mammogram, Don't Let Your Bladder Control your life, Wellness/ exercise, Hormone Therapy, Diabetes Prevention, Calming the Mind: Comfort in Distress Times, and Are You Overbooked, Overworked, and Overwhelmed. The event also included Nutrition Consults, Free Massages, and Yoga Classes. Over 100 community members were in attendance.

    Received continual recognition and commendations for maintaining the highest standards on Safety Rounds, including successfully completing Joint Commission Survey on-site visit.

    The VISN 17 Interns were tasked with communicating the medication recall letter to patients. Under this project, I developed an assembly line to help speed the project's task.

    Proposed, planned, and coordinated 2 MyHealtheVet fairs held at both the Fort Wayne and Marion campus within a 2 month period.

    Enrolled 90 subjects into a literacy study within 4 months, on a 2-year grant, completing recruitment phase $24,000.00 below budget.

  • Root Cause Analysis Team

    Served on three root cause analysis team with Patient Safety Managers to improve patient safety by evaluating systems, processes, and policies. Aggregate Suicide RCA involved analyzing data on attempted and committed suicides, method used, and current policies in place for preventive measures. Presented results to Executive Leadership Team.

  • Seton Breast Care Center 1st October Events

    Hosted Seton Breast Care Center 1st October Events with over 77 participants and 6 events; to bring about Breast Cancer awareness to the community; i.e., Self-Breast Screening Education, Lunch Time Yoga and Meditation, a Book Signing Event from a Breast Cancer Survivor and author from Houston, and a Breast Reconstruction Awareness Event featuring Dr. Potter and Dr. Weinfield and a partnership with Avenue 5 to offer mini-facials and manicures.

  • SMCA Patient Advisory Development Board

    Served on Seton medical center Patient Advisory Development Board designed to discuss patient experiences and get patients involved in moving toward a patient-centered culture, developing the structure to reach patients and research topics/ complaints most presented at the SMCA site as well as potential problems discovered at other sites.

    Transformed failing community grant educating the elderly on health management topics into a successful project within 5 months, increasing outreach efforts and helping reach over 4.4K enrollees and 3.1K completers by training 15 lay leaders and adding 14 workshops.

  • Stiletto Stampede 1 in 8 Campaign

    After the Stiletto Stampede event in 2014, I developed an Online campaign to continue supporting funding for Stiletto Stampede. Similar to the ALS campaign, participants were asked to tag 8 participants, change their photo to a stiletto, and request $8 in donation "Standing Tall to Breast Cancer." The funding would support programs: Boob Camp (Post-Mastectomy Workout) and Yoga for Breast Cancer Survivors.

  • The Power to Heal

    Developed and Implemented the Power to Heal Program to support cancer patients through their journey. Topics included:Recognizing the New Normal. Coping with Courage Emotionally and Spiritually, Utilizing Contemplative Practices for Wellbeing, and Living Well: Body, Mind and Soul. These classes are supported through Chaplaincy services and both Men and Women, patient and caregiver, are invited to attend. Over 30 patients and caregiver have taken the class.

  • UIC: Fit & Strong for Cancer Survivors

    Assessed feasibility of Osteoporosis program on Cancer Survivors, demonstrating success with community outreach by reaching several cancer survivors in the community, developing and maintaining database, conducting classes, and analyzing pre and post surveys. Achieved 1st Retention cohort at 88%, with overall study at 70%.
