There's a site that can tell you if your SSN was leaked from the personal security company Pentester. You must input your first name, last name, year of birth, and what states you've lived in. If your SSN was leaked, the site will present you with a chart showing your address in the record and the last two numbers of your SSN. If you don't find your records associated with your current state or name, try searching for previous states and/or other last names. Attention all Splunk users in the Defense/Gov/Public Sector space! (Odds are if you actually know me as a connection, you are one of us.) We face a unique set of problems daily - Some of those we handle with Splunk and some we work around because of Splunk and the unique challenges our customers place upon that usage. Not being able to use commercial Splunk Cloud for one, or the direct nature of the data we feed to Splunk. That’s why, in collaboration with the #splunkcommunity team, I’m excited to announce the launch of a dedicated Splunk User Group for PubSec Splunk users, along with an AMER sub-chapter. (If you are in other geographical locations, there is room to make your own sub-chapters!) This community offer an unclassified space for us to discuss, collaborate, and share insights on our unique challenges. Throughout my career, I’ve seen how contracting and government beareaucy often hinder collaboration between different cyber shops within the DoD and other areas. This group aims to break down those barriers, again, at an unclassified level. Nothing should stand in the way of the Government from being more secure. So join us in this new initiative, and be part of a collaborative effort to tackle the challenges we face together. Just got the reading the book "Ego is the Enemy" by Ryan Holiday. This book was recommended to me by a leader in the military I aspire to be like when I asked him for some growth advice. I read this book and some pages I had to read again to ensure I was grasping what I was being told. After reading here are a few things I took from this book and I'm going to try and carry with me the rest of my life: 1. Do not let your ego blind you: One of the main lessons from the book is to be aware of the dangers of ego and how it can lead to destructive behavior. The author emphasizes the importance of recognizing when your ego is taking control and making decisions based on pride and self-centeredness. By acknowledging the negative impacts of ego, readers can learn to control it and make more rational choices. 2. Humility is key to success: Holiday stresses the importance of humility in achieving success and reaching your full potential. He argues that an ego-driven mindset leads to short-term gains but ultimately hinders long-term growth. By practicing humility, one can learn from their mistakes and be open to feedback and growth. 3. Focus on the present moment: The book emphasizes the idea of living in the present moment and not getting caught up in future desires or past accomplishments. By constantly comparing ourselves to others or focusing on what we hope to achieve, we miss out on opportunities and fail to fully appreciate our current situation. 4. Adversity can be a teacher: The concept of "ego is the enemy" implies that ego can cloud our judgment and prevent us from seeing obstacles as opportunities to learn and grow. Instead of viewing failures or challenges as personal attacks, Holiday encourages readers to view them as part of life. Nothing is personal.
