Tips for international students to find part-time job: 1. Understand laws and regulations 2. Use campus resources 3. Internet and social media 4. Extracurriculars 5. Promote yourself 6. Job boards and apps (the ones I use) : Use online job boards such as Indeed, LinkedIn, Glassdoor, etc., to search for part-time jobs. Regularly review and apply for positions that match your skills and interests. 7. Flexible employment (the one I used) : Consider accepting flexible work arrangements, such as temporary, hourly, or remote work. This increases the chances of finding a job and fits in better with the study plan. Remember, finding your ideal part-time job may take some time and patience, but persistence will pay off. I met a great group of people to work with at Grill'd and the managers taught me a lot. However, it should be noted that international students need to especially consider the balance between study, work and life, which is also the exercise of self-ability. #parttime #internationalstudents #Grill'd

I am excited to announce another publication of a research study I co-authored! The study focused on the challenges that international students faced before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. This paper is particularly special to me as I myself immigrated to the U.S. to pursue higher education. Although the World Health Organization has declared an end to the pandemic as a public health emergency, many stories about the journey of international students remain untold. This study dives into the changes in psychological challenges and coping strategies among international students in the U.S. before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. With this being a qualitative study, I find the most joy in reading through the study participants’ words quoted in the results section. There’s so much emotion in them and I highly encourage you to take the time to read through this manuscript. I was not a part of the study at the beginning, but I’m very thankful that I had the opportunity to perform analysis, create visualizations, review, and make edits up until the publication! Hi Connections, I just wanted to share a quick update with you all. After completing my undergraduate degree, I realized I hadn't made a post in a while. Despite not receiving positive responses from my job applications, I've decided to take the next step in my career journey. Excited to announce that I'll be starting an MBA program with WGU at the end of this week. Lately, I've been struggling to stay motivated in my job search. The anticipation of working for amazing companies is always thrilling, but the flood of ATS rejection emails can be discouraging. The Catch-22 of entry-level hiring: How can fresh graduates gain experience when many internships and jobs require 2 years of experience? It's a vicious cycle - you need experience to get hired, but you need to get hired to gain experience! It will be great if there can be a more inclusive and supportive pathways for new graduates to enter the workforce.

Any time you take on responsibilities whether its with an internship, part time job or education you must have a conversation with your supervisor as to the time commitment involved and what the expectations are. Internships have been a notorious stomping ground for supervisors taking advantage of the time of unpaid or underpaid interns. It is your responsibility to fulfill the terms of your internship contract. Doing well with regards to those terms will help you earn positive reviews from your supervisor, your college internship coordinator and will eventually help you land other employment and educational opportunities. Going well beyond your internship responsibilities will not exponentially improve your future outlook and will burn you out mentally, physically and emotionally. When you take an internship make sure the goals and time commitment of the internship are clear and do not deviate from them is the best advice that I can give.
