As a contrast to some of the Startup horror stories I’ve heard, I would say it has been a pretty smooth road. I think the biggest struggle has been one of transition.
My experience has been in either a University setting or in working for private, British firms. My experience has been in either a University setting or in working for private, British firms. In both of those environments, there are lots of established processes as well as large support networks. Transitioning to Carpathia, I needed to find my own way.
It was difficult but was also an extremely exciting challenge. This role has empowered me to learn and grow in many ways. Recently, I’ve taught myself the nuances of marketing automation, the ins and outs of our e-commerce platform, and social media best practices. A decade later, I can finally tell people that I am using my University degree in Business Marketing!
Working on a small team has also provided a humbling look at just how much I leaned on the IT, marketing, and finance team in other roles. It has made me appreciate the hard work those team members do even more. -
