How can you overcome common myths and misconceptions about startup failure?
Myths in today’s ecosystem are simply small baseless claims that have been copy and pasted. Sometimes by a fake guru. Failure is unavoidable, but taking risk from a stranger and someone who wants your click and engagement than your success? Thats not a business failure. That’s a personality flaw. Blaze your own way. Surround yourself with trusted individuals. Pour in an take out in proportions. Leave the myths to the Greeks. Your customer expects better.

How do you inspire active and responsible changemakers?
I think being of great impact is not setting out to be famous or overly popular . Seek no credit. Have a history of giving and generously leaning in. Be someone impressive by the least likely people. Stick to what you know. Dive deep into your area of genius. Spend time being curious and insanely passionate. Collaborate with others that match your energy and see what comes from it. Little by little, you look around and you are being sought out not by people wanting something from you but asking how they can help you. Be a part of what you are doing. Surprise people. Do things they don't expect. Places they didn't expect. Again, not for fame, but to show you walk the walk. Givers Gain. No has been able to prove me wrong yet.

We have many many disruptors coming on the scene. These disruptors have also exposed weaknesses in our education. Not formal education. But education in understanding what our “opposition” are doing and how we can better survive and thrive. Isn’t that all we desire?
We evolved into forming The Alliance of Independent Restorers. It’s unlike anything ever made. We call it a trade association, but it’s far more than that.
This article was written in light of the childishness and ego driven internet and social media environment caused multiple spinoffs of the Rebels.
There are also older and far more established organizations.
If we are to believe what is published, and I do, all have intentions to improve our industry and give some form of control back.
But....
These are all working separately and honestly simply talking. Lack of action only frustrates those who joined the charge and spent endless amounts of energy. No action and it becomes yet another example of “big dreams, crashed efforts”.
My article was a call for Unity. There have been some signs of that beginning to occur...especially outside my own groups. So hoping to capture that momentum and spirit of forward movement. AIR are involved with multiple conversations to Unity.
Was this from my article? Outwardly, maybe not.
But it likely helped me understand that the first step is often the hardest and I took it.
Expect a follow up article in the fall/ winter of 2019

I was a Coordinator Contractor for the BP Oil Spill while employed with Interstate Restoration.
We were contracted to provide Project Management for multiple site in 4 states ( Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida).
These tasks would include supervision, logistics, safety, security, and accounting.
At the peak of deployment, I was managing somewhere in the neighborhood of 600 team members.
