How do you learn from failed funding attempts?
My focus is non-dilutive funding (SBIR/STTR). One mistake we see is that people fail to discern between failure causes that are generalizable to the company and those that are linked to a particular funder. They can easily become trapped in a version of Aesop’s “The Man, the Boy, and the Donkey” constantly changing their story to satisfy the last rejection. Instead they should consider those criticisms within the prism of the demands of future potential funding sources.
