The Association of American Railroads report for the week ending April 27 showed total U.S. weekly rail traffic was 476,302 carloads & intermodal units, up 0.7% from the same week last year. Total carloads were 214,414, down 6.4%, and intermodal volume was 261,888 containers & trailers, up 7.5% over the same week in 2023.

Total U.S. weekly rail traffic was 498,807 carloads and intermodal units, up 5.7 percent compared with the same week last year. Total carloads for the week ending August 3 were 219,568 carloads, down 1.2 percent compared with the same week in 2023, while U.S. weekly intermodal volume was 279,239 containers and trailers, up 11.8 percent compared to 2023.
