The EO Ideas Forum was a two-day convening bringing together leading policymakers, practitioners, experts, and the media for a robust discussion on how we can grow employee ownership for the shared benefit of American workers and businesses. In this fact sheet, Joseph Blasi, Douglas Kruse, and Jack Moriarty provide some updated statistics regarding ESOPs in rural counties including the following: ESOPs in rural areas represent 28% of all ESOPs nationally, 12% of all active ESOP employees, 12% of all retired ESOP employees, and 10% of all ESOP assets. Catrina Rorke, executive director of the Climate Leadership Council’s Center for Climate and Trade, issued the following statement on the White House's plans to launch a Climate and Trade Task Force: “The Council is encouraged by the administration providing its clearest signal yet that it is embracing climate and trade policies. As John Podesta noted, and as confirmed by Council-supported research, nearly a quarter of global emissions are embodied in internationally traded goods. We cannot meaningfully lower global emissions without leveraging trade policy. We need a global trading system that appropriately rewards lower-carbon production, penalizes higher-carbon production, and creates market-based incentives for everyone, everywhere to improve their carbon performance. "The U.S. has a carbon advantage, producing goods with fewer emissions than most countries in the world. With the right climate and trade policies, we can leverage that advantage to drive down global emissions and realize an immense economic benefit at home. These policies will also open the door to more exports of American-made, low-carbon technologies in the developed and developing world, supporting the adoption of cleaner solutions.” https://lnkd.in/etaAVc2H

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced the availability of $7.5 billion of Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (WIFIA) funding. The WIFIA program offers long-term loans to help communities implement critical water infrastructure projects, which protect public health, deliver environmental benefits, create over 60,000 good-paying jobs, protect waterways including drinking water sources, and support local economies, at a lower cost. "With the EPA’s announcement of $7.5 billion available in WIFIA funding on September, 6th, it goes to show that the water and wastewater infrastructure issues our country is facing are starting to gain attention!! As WASDA members, we have known the crucial need for this for a long time. However, through organizing our efforts, partnering with people like Zack Perconti (WASDA's Director of Government Affairs), and continuing to voice our concerns and needs, we are starting to see the results we have been looking for from our nation’s capital!
