    I serve on the Ross Bridge Gives Back Team. Each month we work with a non-profit in the Greater Birmingham Area to serve and/or help raise needed funds or resources. We started a golf tournament for the MDA of Alabama and helped them raise over $10,000 in the first year with this fundraiser!

    During his tenure as Director of Group Sales at Marriott Shoals Hotel and Spa, Jonathan was recognized as an industry leader in “Collaborate” magazine’s first-ever “40 Under 40” feature in the April/May 2012 issue. “Collaborate” is a national magazine that provides resources and ideas to planners in the corporate meetings industry.

    Jonathan was nominated by his peers in the corporate meetings world. Numerous nominations were reviewed and evaluated by the magazine’s editorial staff based on references, industry involvement and honors, social media presence and other industry resources. The “40 Under 40” feature was not advertising-driven and not connected with any promotional contest, making this truly an honor for Jonathan and his fellow honorees.

    “This group of individuals represents the present and future of our industry,” said Chris Collinson, chief strategist of Collinson Media and Events. “They were selected by their peers, reinforcing their status as industry influencers.”

    Rocket City Alabama Chapter - Society of Government Meeting Planners

    Jonathan was named Supplier of the Year by the Rocket City-Alabama Chapter of the Society of Government Meeting Professionals (RCAC-SGMP).

    The nonprofit organization aims to "enhance the knowledge and expertise of individuals in the planning and management of government meetings through education, resources and networking," and McKinney was a shining example in his role at the Marriott Shoals Hotel & Spa, where he worked to provide facilities and services to government planners at the hotel
