Hot Take… RIP #PLG, Long Live #SLG But before you throw shade, let me explain… 🔹 There are undoubtedly exceptions, I’m sure many will highlight monday.com, Freshworks, etc. 🔹 PLG works well for low ACV deals with low CAC… think SMB and mid-market customers. Target CAC payback <12 months 🔹 PLG is a fantastic top of funnel marketing channel for enterprise sales ⭐ But for 6-figure enterprise sales, you need enterprise salespeople pressing the flesh with customers

It's time for 2025 budget planning, and the alignment meeting Finance & Engineering is more important than ever. Yeah, yah. I know I'm a marketing leader, but I do think the Engineering/Finance relationship affects the entire organization when planning for the next year. This is especially true with GenAI transforming our workflows. It's crazy out there! You must back every R&D investment with solid data rather than just intuition. Employee Productivity is up, but what’s happening with Headcount Efficiency?!👇 ICONIQ Growth's latest report reveals a notable trend in the SaaS space: While employee productivity - reflected in the ARR per FTE benchmarks - has surged in recent years, headcount efficiency has actually declined. As you can see in the chart below, OpEx per FTE rose over the same period. What do you think is the reason for this? Temporary blip due to market conditions that growing AI adoption will eventually correct? Or will companies always find ways to absorb productivity gains, preventing significant profit boosts? #saas #startup #tech #kpi #benchmarks

Great dinner and discussion on the cutting edge of outbound automation and signals. Two nuggets from the discussion: 1) Email deliverability is especially critical for GTM motions with large scale outbound automation (usually selling to SMBs and wide TAM). There doesn’t seem to be a silver bullet, and banking on one deliverability vendor / approach is risky. 2) Bulllish on signals and automation for up-market GTM motions, but needs to be done thoughtfully. Likely keeping reps in the driver’s seat and less end-to-end automation.
