As a part of the Board of Directors, I contribute to the Lighthouse Center’s mission by developing innovative educational and fundraising programs, fostering professional and community partnerships around coastal resiliency, and improving and enhancing the habitats and infrastructure at the Lighthouse Center in Waretown, NJ.

Board Member for the New Jersey chapter of the Wildlife Society.

Fundraised my way to Ecuador along with ~30 other students from SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry to participate in a reforestation project on the coastal dry forest in San Clemente and Bahía de Caráquez. We learned about the tragic effects that El Niño has in this area, as well as massive deforestation that occurs all over Ecuador. We worked with local school environmental groups to plant seeds into recycled plastic water bottles, and planted over 1,000 native trees.

Participated in tree planting and pruning projects in the city of Syracuse.

Lead weekly meetings to plan trips, talk about daily environmental issues, plan volunteer activities and student symposiums. Past Vice President and Treasurer, member since September 2013. Spent about 5 or more hours per week meeting with outside environmental organizations planning events, sending emails, filling out trip proposals or working on environmental presentations.

This event brought together over 100 residents, organizational leaders, scientists, policymakers and students who are focused on protecting water and creating more resilient and healthy communities. Participated in organizing beach clean-ups as a Student Ocean Advocate and in the Brookdale Environmental Club. I provided public outreach to inform the community of environmental issues on New Jersey beaches, specifically in Monmouth County.
