As an executive committee member for the Epicurean Charitable Foundation (ECF) I was given the opportunity to go on my local Fox 5 affiliate and discuss a new partnership. Today it was announced that ECF and Dress for Success Las Vegas partnered together to outfit our scholarship recipients to prepare them for networking events, internships, job interviews and opportunities.

As a communications consultant who mentors others getting into consulting, my biggest piece of advice is: don’t overthink yourself out of acting. PR people have the tendency to be perfectionists (it’s me, hi). ✏ Iteration is your friend. Your business will need to (and is allowed to!) constantly shift and change as you gain experience in the market. It’s not going to be a perfect flip-a-switch and go! ☠ Perfectionism = death when it comes to getting started. Whether it’s a website, social page, services/offerings, or researching tech tools, I see so many people miss out on great opportunities (or fail to launch altogether) because of the hesitation that perfectionism creates. #communications #PR #consulting #publicrelations

If you aren't talking about last weekend's assassination attempt, good luck getting national media coverage this week. You're better off prioritizing trade outlets and local/regional media. If you have time-sensitive news to share, you should still send it to national press. But double-check that you have an amazing subject line. Subject line best practices include: 1. Add value to the media gatekeeper - why should they open YOUR e-mail instead of the other 400 they'll get today? 2. Be succinct. 8 words or less. 3. Accuracy matters. TV, Google or social media? The folks at Society22 and Censuswide conducted a study to find out which channels have the most influence on U.S. consumers. Notably, most respondents were able to name the sources of brand information for the last five products they purchased ✅ Internet searches came out on top (36%). This was followed by recommendations from family or friends (30%), brand advertising on TV or radio (25%), social media advertising (23%), and brand stories from other content creators or influencers (20%). When it comes to what most often inspires US consumers to make a purchase, YouTube leads the way (37%), followed by TV commercials (36%), offline sources such as friends, family and in-store displays (35%), Facebook (30%) and TikTok (26%). ➡️ The main conclusion of the researchers is that in order to influence purchase decisions through content, brands need to tailor it to their target audience. I would add that regardless of which channel your audience chooses, be mindful of your reputation. Don't skimp on content creation, manage negative feedback effectively, and word of mouth will work for you, both online and offline. #Research #SocialMedia #ReputationExpert
