Due to the historic significance, the existing truss bridge was left in place and a new roadway alignment and bridge location were designed just upstream. During the initial efforts taken, I completed hydrology and hydraulic analysis of the Washita river at the existing 560' truss bridge as well as the proposed 1020' PC beam bridge. Utilizing HEC-RAS and working with a licensed water resources engineer Reza Khakpour, I assisted Olsson structural designers in determining, modeling, and evaluating hydraulically the final bridge type, elevation, and layout. Further, I worked as a roadway designer in laying out and designing Greasy Bend Rd improvements due to the new bridge. Working with a transportation PE Bryan Davis, we designed and completed final construction bridge replacement, grade, drain and surface project.

I worked directly under a transportation PE in completing the construction design. In efforts taken by a team of PE's, EI's, and drafters to complete the detailed design, calculations, and construction plan, I assisted in laying out the horizontal and vertical alignments, completed intersection modeling, and drained the project site. I was given key responsibility in X-section efforts and earthwork calculations. This project was completed on an accelerated schedule due to strict time-lines necessary for the establishments utilizing the intersection.

This approximate 8-mile project included identification of a number of potential bypass alignments for the existing US-81 corridor through the City of Chickasha, potential interchanges and their horizontal & vertical alignment variations. I worked on specific engineering tasks including management of existing traffic data, projection of future traffic with and without the proposed bypass alignment, determination of potential interchange locations and grade separations based on projected traffic demand under direction of professional engineer Aruna Mathuranayagam. Traffic operational analysis for the various alignments using simulation modeling, and safety analysis were the last tasks I completed. Through these design efforts I learned basic utilization traffic software Synchro/SimTraffic.

The improvements include designing a two lane facility on four lane right-of-way (2 on 4) for an ultimate four lane design with a 64’ median. Leidos prepared complete detailed designs, calculations and construction plans in U. S. Customary (English) units for drainage, grading, surfacing, construction traffic controls and bridges for the improvement of US-70. Plans included detailed construction traffic control, permanent signage and striping. Leidos, through third-party sub consultants, conducted the geotechnical investigations necessary to determine the bridge and roadway pavement designs. The project was divided into three separate construction work packages with each package as a “stand alone” set of plans, for separate lettings.
    • Project 1 - Begins approximately 6.20 miles east of US-259 (near the End of the Existing 4 Lane Section) and extends east approximately 3.0 miles

Working on the main gate entrance for the Horsham Air Guard Station, owned by the Pennsylvania Air National Guard and located in Horsham Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, United States. The Air National Guard plays host to many different Army National Guard Units as well as other government agencies. It is located in Horsham Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, United States four miles (6 km) northwest of the central business district of Willow Grove, which is north of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The installation was transferred to the Pennsylvania Air National Guard and the name changed to the Horsham Air Guard Station after the U.S. Navy departed in 2011. In early 2012, the main gate was designated to be redesigned by Leidos and rebuilt. On the AGS main gate, Auto-turn software was used to analyze road intersections, parking lots, and on/off-street assignments for vehicle swept path analysis, vehicle access checks, adequate clearances, and truck route maneuvers. Traffic safety analysis was based on the latest Highway Safety Manual guidelines are being used to determine the benefits of Access Management. Due to the clearance conflicts, trucks movements are now separate from the car traffic with a separate entrance. Auto-turn is continually being leveraged to most effectively develop alternative routes for truck traffic. In order to exceed the expectations of the Pennsylvania Air National Guard, continual coordination is occurring between Leidos offices in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
