A DEI Hirer?! 🤔 It’s disheartening to see Vice President Kamala Harris and many other accomplished Black women continually reduced to the label of a “DEI hire.” This stigmatizing term undermines our qualifications, achievements, and the significant barriers we have overcome. To classify Black women in higher executive roles, regardless of their accomplishments, as a DEI hire is utterly disgusting. We have to work so much harder just to be accepted for the position, and even when we get it, they can’t see past the color of our skin! Let’s count the accomplishments, shall we? VP Kamala Harris was Attorney General of California, United States Senator from California, the District Attorney for San Francisco, and a local prosecutor. A DEI hire, you say?! Her extensive and impressive career speaks volumes about her capabilities and dedication. The notion that an educated, successful, Black woman like VP Harris are only in their positions to fulfill diversity quotas ignores the systemic challenges we face and the expertise we bring. This stigma is not only insulting but also perpetuates harmful stereotypes that devalue the hard work and competence of Black women across all industries. Sh!t has got to change! We must recognize and celebrate the achievements of Black women for what they truly are – the result of talent, dedication, and resilience. It’s crucial for organizations and society as a whole to shift the narrative from tokenism to genuine appreciation of diversity, EQUITY and inclusion. #Diversity #Inclusion #Equality #Leadership #BlackExcellence
