What are the most common mistakes when selecting a sample for an experimental study?
One thing that I've found helpful is to always consider other studies in your field when deciding the sample size. In the field of medical devices, for example, the samples can usually be much smaller than in traditional pharma studies, because they have larger effect sizes, and usually other credible studies in the field can give a much better estimate of what to actually expect.

What are the most common mistakes when selecting a sample for an experimental study?
In my experience, there is too little discussion on how much women's health matters get recognised in sampling biases. Specifically, women participating in trials (when they are invited and actually considered, which is not a given) are rarely tracked to account for the phase of the menstrual, gestational or menopausal cycle they're in, which means that most of the research data available on women (especially in the field of medicine) does not account for what we know are critical changes to their biology and cognitive function. When considering recruitment for any studies including female participants, researchers would be remiss not to consider, record and analyse the implications of their reproductive states on data outcomes.

How can you use conflict resolution to build stronger teams?
Effective conflict resolution is crucial for progress and building strong relationships. Genuine relationships inevitably face conflicts, and resolving these through empathy and reasoning is key to forming lasting, innovative partnerships. My experience as an emergency medic taught me the importance of respecting the chain of command, a vital strategy in urgent, high-stress situations. This contrasts with long-term conflict resolution, which involves collaborative problem-solving and consensus-building in ongoing challenges. Both short-term and long-term strategies are essential in any organization for handling different conflict scenarios.
