This experiment examined how helping behavior was affected in relation to males and females with and without makeup in both emergency and non-emergency situations. We also examined how likeability, willingness to engage in conversation, attractiveness, skepticism, and trustworthiness were affected. Our hypothesis that women would be more likely to help both males and females with or without makeup in both types of situations was supported. Additionally, we found that female participants were more likely to engage in conversation than were the male participants. Even more, the participants were more likely to engage in conversation with people wearing makeup than those not wearing makeup. Furthermore, we found that female participants would engage in conversation with people regardless of whether they were wearing makeup or not, whereas male participants were more likely to engage in conversation with people wearing makeup. Lastly, we found that female participants helped people regardless of gender, whereas male participants were more likely to help females.
