Ian Joseph Miller was born in Phoenixville, PA and was a 7th grade student at West-Mont Christian Academy. Ian Joseph Miller was born in Phoenixville, PA and was a 7th grade student at West-Mont Christian Academy. He was an extremely active boy; unfortunately, on a sledding trip with his fellow Boy Scout troops, Ian lost control of his sled and ran head first into a ski lift tower. He was pronounced dead later on at the hospital. Upon removing Ian’s snow boots the doctors discovered a note with a scripture from the bible. The verse was James 1: 2-4 and it read, “Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your fate develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” Upon reading the scripture, Ian’s parents used the grief of their son not to mourn but to make a difference. Thus, In Ian’s Boots was created. In Ian’s Boots is a foundation that collects all types of shoes, cleans them, and distributes them to whomever may need them.

I created a PowerPoint and speeches that were presented all throughout the Montgomery County Community College Central and West Campus. I raised awareness of this Local Cause and helped get almost 1,000 pairs of shoes donated in a 3 month donation span.
