To simplify engineering strategy, Carta CTO Will Larson boils it down to two core ideas: 1. Resource Allocation: How do you invest the headcount and budget that you have? 2. Decision-making: How do you evaluate and make decisions when something comes up? When zeroing in on the latter, Carta has tried a unique approach to help speed up decision-making. “We’ve been relying on people we call ‘navigators.’ The idea is one person per business unit is selected to act as the mini-CTO. They get to be the final decision maker for their area’s technology,” Larson says. For an example of this in action, think of the fund administration area of Carta’s business. “On that team, we have one navigator and 60 engineers working together. In many other areas at Carta, we’ve started rolling out Kafka as a messaging system, but the navigator in fund administration called out that they didn’t think it was the right tool for them to use. So they didn’t. We’ve seen a lot of success by empowering the folks with the most context on the ground to make the tech-stack decisions that make the most sense for them.” If you are curious to try something similar for your org, Larson shares three lessons he’s learned so far on the Review:

just bc you built AI into your tool doesn't mean buyers will want it... Companies that have been building AI into their products could learn a bunch from PathFactory’s new ChatFactory interactive demo ChatFactory: Buying Agents Powered by Generative AI what I really like about this buyer experience: 1. you could throw the visitor right into the product and hope they figure it out ("Try ChatFactory" CTA) OR you can help them understand how it works ("Learn More" CTA takes you to the interactive demo) 2. share top benefits right away (and show them) 3. share top features right away (and show them) 4. uncover things a first time visitor would likely not be able to figure out on their own e.g. "hit the space bar for automated suggestions" 5. it's one thing to say it's easy, it's a completely different thing to show just how easy 6. ability to show customizations (e.g. brand, use cases) 7. show the depth of your analytics (which is really useful for data saavy personas) 8. after the interactive demo, include a CTA to Book Demo (obvious next step) I mean, this is really, really good ya'll way better than screenshots or even a product video If you've been building AI into your tool(s) and want a way to help potential buyers see the value and "test drive" the product, I recommend you take a look 🌟 just bc you built AI into your tool doesn't automatically mean they'll want it 🌟 link in the comments ✌️&❤️️ #marketing #startups #founders #AI
